More Pictures of Mom’s House
We stopped by mom’s on the way back from the cabin today and took some pictures. It’s amazing how much has changed since Friday. They have framed up all the walls for the garage/shop since then. Scott and Pat also went over and put in some new fence posts to repair the fence from the windstorm. We need to have that completed before mom can get back in the house. As you can see from the pictures, there is a ways to go to get the house completed. The City of Federal Way just issued the building permit (FINALLY!!!!) about a week ago. Since then, they have torn down the structure and poured the foundation (engineer required some foundation work) and framed up the walls.
The trusses will be lifted up on to the walls on Monday and Darren hopes to have a roof over the entire garage and shop after next weekend, although I expect it could take a little longer.
As you can see from the pictures, the inside of the house is changing too. All new doors, new trim etc. You can see that the old tile in the front entry has been removed and the new tile that matches the kitchen has been set. New tile has also been installed on the ledge where the old woodstove used to be (as well as new sheetrock) and there is a bit of new tile on the landing as you go down the stairs. Grout is next for all of the tile.
Doors have been hung but are all off right now as they get another coat of paint. Almost all the windows have been installed and most of the trim has been put on as well. When it is done, those doors and trim are really going to make a huge improvement in the interior.
All of the white paint you see is primer. A painter should be coming back to start painting all the walls in the next week or so. Carpet has been ordered and will arrive at the warehouse in about a week.
The kitchen sheetrock has finally been removed. All of the insulation will need to be replaced and some of the lumber above the kitchen will most likely have to be removed, or at the minimum sealed.
The bathrooms are under construction now as well. New skylights were installed in both of the upstairs bathrooms (as I mentioned in the last post) but you can see how they lighten up the bathrooms. New flooring, bath/shower units and paint are up next for the bathrooms. You can see that the new cabinets have been set in place in the bathrooms as well.
Anyway, after all of that explanation, here are the pictures:
