Katie, Emma and I came out to the cabin for the night, last night. Mom is in Colorado visiting Kathy, Marcia and Jean. We came out to mow the lawn and do a little work on our cabin. We didn’t do much: just wired a couple lights in etc. We went out to dinner with Steve, Theresa and Pam last night. We all had a great time and got home just in time for Emma to go to bed.
We are going to see if we can get gutters put on next week. Our cabin has been ready for gutters for quite awhile but we just haven’t gotten around to getting them installed. It’s just one more thing on the list.
Next week (Memorial Day Weekend) we will be up for the entire weekend, starting on Friday. Judy’s family will also come up for at least one night, along with mom. You can imagine that might get a little tight so we will probably “camp” in our cabin for the night that Judy is here. It should be fun to have Bryson and Jaden up here. Emma just loves playing with both of them! I’ll be trying to finish up some loose ends on the cabin during the weekend before we get the electrical inspection.
Mom’s house is coming along. Here is some of the latest progress:
-New front door installed
-Garage completely torn down, new foundation poured (on one side) and new walls being framed back up. They expect to set the trusses this next week.
-Bathrooms have been gutted and are being rebuilt now. New skylights were added in both bathrooms upstairs and really lighten up the rooms.
-New doors throughout the interior
-New trim throughout the interior
-New tile in the front entry
-New windows throughout entire house
-New roof and eave extended
-New stair railing improvements
-Kitchen sheetrock removed
-Interior of house cleaned and primed
-Electrical activated throughout house
I’m sure I’m forgetting some things but the progress is moving along nicely. We want to get the house completed as soon as possible so that mom can decide whether she wants to move in while the garage and shop are completed. I would guess that the garage/shop should be framed up in the next week or so, although we’ll see how the weather cooperates.
Here are a couple shots after the shop was torn down and hauled away. Like I said earlier, the garage is also down now and there has been significant progress from this point but these are the most recent pics:
And here is a bit more cheery picture of Emma with “Butterfly wings” on. She got to decorate her wings and then walk in a little parade around the city of Tukwila’s community center. She had a great time! And a second shot of us visiting the Kelsey Creek Farm in Bellevue.
