It’s Been Awhile
Sorry that it has been so long since we’ve updated the website. We have been pretty busy between working, building the cabin, keeping the house up, etc etc etc.. We have made additional progress on the cabin. The plumbing has been signed off by the inspector and we are about 85% done on the electrical. We’ll be working to get the wiring completed in the next few weeks and then will call for that inspection. We had a contractor come out and install the furnace. As of March 31st, the system was almost completed. They will be coming back in the next week or so to complete it. We opted to get a heat pump as well so that will be installed a little bit later once we complete the grading of the ground around the cabin. Once we get the mechanical and electrical inspections signed off we’ll start insulating.
Emma is doing well in school. She can now write her name, which is a huge milestone for her. It’s very exciting to see her learning. She has also made quite a few friends at school. She attended one of her classmate’s birthday parties and it was neat to see her getting along so well with the kids. She has really benefited being in daycare from a social perspective. We think it’s going to make the transition in to kindergarten in a couple years much easier. We haven’t decided if she’ll stay in daycare/school until kindergarten or not. Some days we think she will and others we feel like it might be better for Katie to stay home again once we finish the cabin. Only time will tell.
We had another great weekend out at the cabin with Ben, Jana and Luc. We really enjoy getting together with them. Katie and Jana played with the kids and took them to the park etc. Ben and I worked on the electrical wiring in the cabin and also spent some time taking it easy. We watched the movie, “Borat” on Saturday night. While we laughed a lot, we did think it was pretty over the top. You wouldn’t want to watch the movie on a full stomach or you might get ill. :)
Work is progressing on mom’s house. Darren is installing all new windows this week and a painter has been in spraying all the walls and ceiling with primer. We are still waiting on the permit at the city but at least progress is being made while we wait. Most of the debris inside the garage/shop is gone now and the rest of the cars should be picked up over the next week. The boat will also be going away soon. Mom is spending time over at the house doing yard work and we’ve all gone over some to help out. Aunt Jean wins the award for spending the most time over there weeding with mom. (And since we all know how much she loves doing it, we know she must really love her sister).
