We Bought a Cabin
Well, it’s official. We closed on a partially finished cabin last week. We have been wanting to purchase a piece of property or a cabin up near our family cabin in the Hood canal area. A friend of ours started building a cabin and ended up deciding not to finish it. When he decided to sell, we made him an offer and he was kind enough to sell it to us. When I say kind enough, I mean that he could have sold it for more, but made the decision to just sell it to us. We were very appreciative.
So, partially built means there is no roof, no siding, no doors and just framing completed inside. We have to get it roofed, sided, the deck built and doors on before winter. Another friend of ours (my best friend Darren) is going to come up and help us get it closed in for winter. Once that is complete, we’ll start working on the inside. We still have a lot of decisions to make about how we finish it (how big the kitchen is etc) but we’ll just take it one day at a time. We put a few pictures up at: http://www.jeffkatieemma.com/newcabin . It’s got a pretty nice view of the lake from the second story. (Actually from both the first and second levels but the whole first level is a 30X32 garage.)
Oh, and the best part of this is that it is directly across the street from our family cabin. That gives us 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms if we want to have everyone up at the same time!
