Took a Trip to Seattle
We had a fun day last Saturday. We decided to head up to Seattle for the day. We started out in Magnolia and drove by Grandma and Grandpa’s old house and checked out the Magnolia street fair. After that, we went to the Pike Place Market. We walked through the market and had lunch at the Turkish Delight. Vegan lentil soup and a pita. Of course, a little later we had to have a snickerdoodle cookie from the Cinnamon works. Emma really enjoyed the men throwing the fish. I suppose it’s kind of an odd thing to see as a three year old. The weather was amazing and the temperature was just perfect. Roughly 75 degrees. After spending a couple hours in the market, we walked down the pike steps and walked along the waterfront. There were lots of people out and I think Emma was really enjoying the trip. We spent some time watching a parasurfer (I think that’s what you call it) and saw ferries coming and going. I’m positive that the highlight of the trip for Emma was riding on the carousel down there.
Once we left the waterfront, we headed back up through the market and got our car. We decided to start heading home when we thought maybe we’d stop by Boeing field to see if the Blue Angels were going to take off. As we arrived, we noticed hundreds of people doing the same thing. They all seemed to be staring down the runway. Just as we started to try to get over to look down the runway, we heard a loud rumble. We hadn’t been there 30 seconds when the Blue Angels flew directly over the top of us. First there were 4 that took off together and then another after that. It was the loudest thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. We all threw our hands over our ears as fast as we could. The planes couldn’t have been more than 40 feet above our heads. The smoke drifted right past us.
Well, needless to say, that was exciting. We decided to head up through the Seward park area on the way home. We ultimately made it to Rainier avenue and pulled over to watch the planes perform on lake washington. It was great to see!
